Lush garden at Nature Restaurant Samui

I stumbled upon Nature Restaurant by chance while looking for a place to eat near our house. I only had 50 minutes before my next meeting, so I needed somewhere close by. And man, oh man, were we pleasantly surprised.

On our first visit, we didn’t have time to sample everything we wanted, so we visited a second time —that's how good it is.

Hidden in the lush greenery of Koh Samui, Nature Restaurant offers a serene dining experience perfect if you’re looking to enjoy the island’s vibrant culinary scene.

We were lucky to meet Ta, the owner, who greeted us in such an amicable way and offered us the best table in the house overlooking the lotus garden. This magical place not only offers a charming ambiance but also tells a story of passion and dedication to authentic Thai cuisine. It was founded by a local couple who dreamed of creating a space where the rich flavours of traditional Thai dishes could be shared with both locals and visitors. Inspired by the natural beauty surrounding their home, they built the restaurant using sustainable materials and infused it with elements reflecting the local culture and environment.

Signature Dishes

Nature Restaurant prides itself on offering a menu that showcases the best of Thai cuisine, prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Here are a few must-try signature dishes:

Miang Dok Bua at Nature Restaurant
Miang Dok Bua

Miang Dok Bua is a traditional Thai appetizer that translates to "lotus flower bites." It’s a fresh, vibrant, and flavorful dish that features edible lotus petals as the star ingredient. Each petal serves as a delicate wrapper for a delicious mix of fillings, creating a delightful burst of flavors and textures in every bite. The fillings typically include a mix of finely chopped ingredients such as roasted coconut, peanuts, lime wedges, ginger, shallots, chili, and dried shrimp. These ingredients are complemented by a sweet and tangy palm sugar sauce, which you drizzle over your petal-wrapped bite.

Butterfly Pea Rice

When you order Butterfly Pea Rice at Nature Restaurant, you’re presented with a plate of rice that’s a beautiful shade of blue, garnished with a variety of flowers and vegetables. Mix it with a tangy dressing to create a beautiful salad.

Pad Thai

Pad Thai at Nature Restaurant is a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and tangy. Stir-fried rice noodles are tossed with tofu, eggs, bean sprouts, and shrimp, then garnished with crushed peanuts and a squeeze of fresh lime. It’s a dish our family enjoys very much.

Cashew Chicken

A family favorite, Cashew Chicken is a classic Thai stir-fry dish that combines tender pieces of chicken with crunchy cashew nuts and a medley of vegetables, all coated in a savory sauce. At Nature Restaurant, the chicken is coated in a light batter, making it crispy. We’ve tried Cashew Chicken in several places, but none matched the flavors of this one.

Add to these fabulous dishes their signature Butterfly Pea Lemon Juice. It’s to die for.

Nature Restaurant is more than just a place to eat—it’s a culinary journey that connects you with the heart and soul of Thai cuisine. It stands as a testament to the owners' love for food and nature. On your next visit to Samui, you need to add Nature Restaurant to your Thai culinary journey.

When I read “blue rice” I took pause, but only until I saw the photos. I’d never have imagined you could have such a colourful plate! Vibrant is definitely the word.

There’s something really joyful and yet luxurious about the way it’s all presented.
